Marcvs
Marcus Couto, also known as Marcvs, is a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist based in São Paulo. He works with image, text and sound, using painting, software and artificial intelligence models to build provocative narratives about the present: the ontological impacts of the unbridled advance of technology and hypercapitalism. He describes himself as a “cartographer of the technocracy.” He is the creator of Zombiebasilisk, a project of AI-made horror and found-footage shorts that has drawn more than 18 million views. In his paintings, he takes as reference images generated by diffusion models, from the latest to the obsolete, seeking to paint the mind of the machine through images that evoke technological eschatology. He was a finalist for the Ibero-American Visual Arts Prize (CERLALC/UNESCO) for his work with AI-generated images, with an exhibition in Bogotá. In experimental electronic music, his project Osasco Dynamics was reviewed by The Wire magazine.

/zombiebasiliskThe audiovisual work of Marcvs takes shape under the name Zombiebasilisk: a channel of AI-made horror and found footage, on TikTok and Instagram since 2025. The films arrive as found documents: images the brain can’t immediately catalog, anchored in something familiar. Found footage instead of “cinematic”. 480p instead of upscaling. The archival aesthetic is a decision, not a limitation.
