marcvs (marcus couto) is a visual artist and painter based in são paulo. his research investigates the machine's imagetic unconscious: he hand-paints, in digital and acrylic media, images extracted from artificial intelligence systems — inverting the usual flow between human and algorithm. his portraits reveal bodies traversed by dead technology: implants, circuits, and obsolete media embedded in flesh, in an expressionism that dialogues with hauntology and the philosophy of technology. shaped by the industrial landscape of 1980s abc paulista, he was a finalist of the ibero-american visual arts prize (cerlalc/unesco), with an exhibition in bogotá. he also operates as a cartographer of the technocracy across sound, text, and cryptoart.
